How to Access and Browse Lumion 3D Material Library

To access Lumion 3D material library, you need to open the Materials mode in Lumion. You can do this by clicking on the Materials icon on the toolbar or pressing M on your keyboard. This will open a panel on the right side of the screen, where you can see all the available materials in Lumion.

Lumion 3D material library is organized into categories, such as Nature, Indoor, Outdoor, Glass, Metal, Water, etc. You can click on any category to expand it and see the subcategories and materials within it. You can also use the search bar at the top of the panel to find a specific material by name or keyword.

To preview a material, you can hover your mouse over it and see how it looks on a sample object in the middle of the screen. You can also drag and drop a material onto any object in your scene to apply it instantly.

How to Apply and Adjust Materials to Your Models

Applying materials to your models in Lumion is very easy and intuitive. You can simply drag and drop a material from the panel onto any object in your scene, and it will automatically adapt to the shape and size of the object. You can also use the eyedropper tool to copy a material from one object to another.

Once you have applied a material to an object, you can adjust its properties by clicking on the Edit button at the bottom of the panel. This will open a new panel with various sliders and options that allow you to fine-tune the appearance of the material. Some of the common properties that you can adjust are:

  • Color: You can change the hue, saturation, brightness, and contrast of the material.

  • Texture: You can change the scale, rotation, offset, and mapping of the texture image that is applied to the material.

  • Reflection: You can change the amount, glossiness, sharpness, and clipping of the reflection effect on the material.

  • Relief: You can change the depth, scale, detail, and direction of the relief effect that adds bumps and grooves to the material.

  • Weathering: You can change the amount, scale, variation, and color of the weathering effect that adds dirt and wear to the material.

  • Foliage: You can change the amount, scale, density, wind speed, and color variation of the foliage effect that adds grass or leaves to the material.

You can also use presets to quickly apply predefined settings for different types of materials. For example, you can use the Glass preset to make your material transparent and reflective, or use the Rust preset to make your material look old and corroded.

How to Customize and Create Your Own Materials

If you want to have more control over your materials in Lumion, you can also customize and create your own materials from scratch. To do this, you need to open the Custom Materials mode in Lumion. You can do this by clicking on the Custom Materials icon on the toolbar or pressing C on your keyboard. This will open a panel on the left side of the screen, where you can see all your custom materials.
