[S3E9] Too Short To Ride
The three find out there are new height restrictions for one of the roller coasters, and none of them are tall enough. Steven and Amethyst shapeshift so they can ride, though Peridot is a bit rusty and unable to shapeshift. She tells Steven and Amethyst to go without her, and they do.
[S3E9] Too Short to Ride
The three walk into Funland and the group decides to ride a rollercoaster first. They head over to the entrance, only to discover new rules. Steven and Amethyst are measured by height and are not tall enough, but when it is Peridot's turn, it looks like she is tall enough because of her hair. Mr. Smiley notices this and says that the group has to do some more growing before they can ride. This angers Peridot, saying that she does not have to grow because her height is perfect. She demands entry, calling Mr. Smiley a "clod". After Mr. Smiley threatens them with another lifetime ban, the three walk away, as Amethyst says "Shorty Squad, out". The three are disappointed that they cannot ride, but Amethyst gets the idea of shape-shifting to the correct height. Peridot tries to shape-shift, but fails, saying that she is a bit rusty. She tells Steven and Amethyst to quickly go on the ride without her, so they can quickly come back. The two come back with their original height, Amethyst saying that the ride was 'so good', and Steven asking what they should do next. The three then go to the House of Mirrors. Steven and Amethyst enjoy this by making use of their shape-shifting, but Peridot visibly does not.
In the carriage ride to his crowning, Alicent attempts to talk a sulking Aegon into ruling with compassion and sparing Rhaenyra's life. The Valyrian steel dagger makes still another cameo appearance, officially qualifying it for an Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series nomination.
Plus, three dragon eggs. With Laenor "dead," Seasmoke is currently riderless. We know that Baela has a dragon, but we haven't met it yet. And we haven't gotten an update on Rhaena's dragon-status, either.
Levy noted in November 2015 that he and the Duffer Brothers had already begun planning a potential third season, saying, "We are not gonna be caught off guard and we don't wanna be making stuff up like the day before we have to write it and make it, so we are definitely optimistic and we have started thinking ahead."[23] The Duffer Brothers anticipate having about four to five seasons to work with, but do want to "have a really finite ending" while the series is still at a height of success, according to Matt, rather than letting it draw out indefinitely.[24] In August 2017, the Duffer Brothers confirmed there would be a third season, with the likelihood of one more season following that, with Ross saying, "We're thinking it will be a four-season thing and then out".[25] However, executive producer Shawn Levy later suggested that either four or five total seasons were possibilities, claiming that "the truth is, we're definitely going four seasons and there's very much the possibility of a fifth. Beyond that, it becomes, I think, very unlikely."[26] Matt Duffer later commented that no official decision has been made, claiming that "It's hard, like four seems short, five seems long. So I don't know what to do."[27] In December 2017, Netflix officially confirmed that they have green lit the third season,[28] consisting of eight episodes. Levy also confirmed that a fourth season was "definitely happening" and that there was potential for a fifth season.[29] A year later, the episode titles for season three were revealed, along with confirming the season would be named Stranger Things 3, similar to the second season.[30]
In addition to the aforementioned sets, filming also occurred at pre-existing structures dressed as the Hawkins town hall and Mayor Kline's house.[46] The production also used a total of seven sound stages, with an average of three sets per stage.[46] To create the "black void", the visual manifestation of Eleven's telepathic ruminations, filming took place in a pool that was "painted black [and filled] with about an inch of water, [and was] surrounded by 270 degrees of duvetyne around thirty feet high".[46] The void's look was tweaked slightly for the third season and shooting in the newer, smaller space required a 50-foot (15 m) Technocrane and two boom operators.[46] An empty field was used to film the scenes set at the Hawkins Fun Fair, with the crew arriving just three weeks prior to the opening of a previously booked medieval fair.[46] Period-appropriate carnival rides were trucked into the set from locations across the country, and the crew retrofitted the rides' modern lighting with bulbs that would have been used in the 1980s.[46]
Promotion for the third season began with the first day of production, when Netflix released a video featuring the cast as they met for the season's first script read-through.[58] On July 16, 2018, the first teaser trailer for the season was released. The teaser, which is the first to feature footage shot for the new season, is styled as an in-universe commercial for the newly built Starcourt Mall, one of the main settings for the season's events.[59][60][61] The "commercial" lists some of the stores found in the mall[62] as well as restaurants in the "state-of-the-art" food court, and closes with Steve (Joe Keery) and Robin (Maya Hawke) saying "Ahoy!" during a short plug for one of the food court's establishments, an ice cream parlor called Scoops Ahoy.[59][60][61] On December 9, 2018, during an appearance at the 2018 Comic Con Experience at the São Paulo Expo in São Paulo, Brazil, Noah Schnapp, Sadie Sink, and Caleb McLaughlin presented a new teaser which revealed the titles of the eight episodes in the new season.[63] Hours later, the teaser was released online across all of the official Stranger Things social media accounts.[64][65]
On March 19, 2019, the official Stranger Things social media accounts posted a short clip of rats scurrying through a dilapidated industrial area with the caption "It's almost feeding time."[69] This turned out to be a prelude to the release of stills and the first official trailer the next day on March 20.[70][71] The trailer quickly became the most-viewed video on Netflix's YouTube channel, amassing 22 million views in the first week of its release.[72] On May 21, the first clip from the season was released in tandem with cast posters.[73][74] The clip, which features Billy flirting with Karen Wheeler at the local pool, includes notable references to the early-1980s comedy films Caddyshack and Fast Times at Ridgemont High.[73] Netflix released the final trailer on June 20, 2019.[75]
Archer goes to the house of a teacher who he saw earlier in the day, standing next to a dead Skag in a coffin. After a short conversation with the teacher, asking him why he barged into her home, he says he would like to know more about the Skagarans. She replies that everyone knows about the Skagarans. Archer says in response that up north quite a ways, where he lives, there are none. He goes on to say that his actions in the bar were because he doesn't think that the Skagaran life is any less valuable than his. The teacher asks Archer if he would like to meet more of them and, when Archer nods his head in agreement, they go off in a carriage to Skag town. On the way the deputy and some men come out of an alley way and watch the pair leave.
The bakers have one hour and 15 minutes to create a soufflé. Since this is such a short challenge, the bakers work in staggered times, which means they each have different starting points. Poor Flora is first at bat and begs the other contestants not to leave the tent.
Sebastian is like a naughty kid, making jokes and consequently being told off by Ferrari as a result. He pretty much keeps throwing Ferrari under the bus as he knows his time with the team is limited and with the car in such a bad state. In short, GET THAT POPCORN AT THE READY.
The bread and salt served to everyone in the throne room is significant. Eating one's bread and salt ensures you have "guest right" in their home, and to harm someone to whom you've given guest right is almost a spiritual violation. Robb makes very elaborate and graceful apologies to the Frey family even as Walder pervs on his wife, and doofus Edmure just looks concerned that none of the Frey daughters are pretty, increasing his anxiety that he'll be disappointed with his bride.
All the while, of course, Bran is achingly close to his half-brother, even closer than Arya was while gazing at her family's location across a river. Bran is able to save Jon by inhabiting his direwolf, Summer, and along with Rickon's Shaggydog the Stark wolves help Jon get away from a people and a value system that could never be wholly his. Ygritte's stricken face as Jon rides off without so much as a look back is painful to behold. 041b061a72
