Paper Doll Dress Patterns: How to Sew Your Own Quilted Paper Doll Blanket
The Paper Doll Clothing was created as a way to make sure all little girls get to enjoy the classic designs their grandmothers and great grandmothers once cherished. Each piece is designed solely by the owner, Grace Byrd. She pulls details throughout the past century while also adding in her own modern twist. Each piece is meticulously designed even down to the buttons selected. The motto The Paper Doll follows is quality over quantity. Fabrics are always the highest level of quality grade Grace can find to fit the design she is creating. In addition, upon receiving designs each piece is steamed, inspected and packaged in our signature packaging to make each package received more than just a dress.
The Paper Doll Dress Up Cartridge is truly a hidden gem! You can layer the pieces together to make princesses, knights, ballerinas, pilgrims and much, much more! The clothing, hair and accessories are interchangeable making the possibilities endless. There is also an option to add tabs, so you can make real paper dolls! Many seasonal accents are included too!

To set up this activity all you need to do is print out the pdf onto card stock. There are 4 different paper dolls to choose from. I printed them all for my 3-year-old. Make sure to then laminate the pieces. Laminating the pieces really makes it easier for kids to handle because it makes them much more sturdy! After you cut out the laminated pieces use the magnets I linked to above and cut each magnet piece in half. If you need help with positioning your magnets on each piece leave a comment and I will update this post with the back of my pieces. The picture above is before I laminated the pieces and attached magnets. It was definitely much harder on my hands to position things correctly.
I found these adorable metal containers at the Dollar Tree and I was so excited because they were perfect for these paper dolls! I love that I can just grab this container on my way out and use it as a restaurant kit to keep the kids busy while we are out.

Happy Fine Motor Friday! We are going a little crazy with contact paper lately after last week's sticky dresses and robot outfits. This contact paper doll dresses activity is pretty similar but my daughter loves it so much I though I'd share it too!
The same length of contact paper that we would use for a window collage or full size contact paper dress would yield about a dozen Barbie Dresses. I'm sure we will still do window collages and full size dresses or robots again some time but this was super fun and I could see a lot of kids loving this activity like my daughter does!
My daughter enjoyed decorating the dresses and cutting the yarn and I love that she was getting some fun scissors practice and using those tiny muscles in her hands and fingers to pick up and place all the yarn where she wanted it. Removing the decorations is also awesome fine motor skills work! If your child is able, she can also help assemble the dress. I cut the contact paper out for ours and asked my daughter to help pull the paper backing off.
Prep the dress: Out of a 5 1/2 inch square of contact paper, cut the dress top, as shown. (I eye-balled it, the part that wraps around the waist is about 1 1/2 inch tall.) Cut the skirt 6 1/2 inches wide by whatever length you want, measuring down from about Barbie's belly button area.
Dress the doll: Remove the paper backing from the dress top. Sticky side out, wrap the dress top waist band around the doll's waist and overlap the ends where they meet at her back. Fold the should straps over the doll's shoulders and stick them the to each other and the waist band if you wish. Next remove the paper backing of the dress and with the sticky side out, line up the top of the skirt with the bottom of the dress top. Wrap it around the doll's hips and overlap it at the back, tucking the contact paper around the waist a couple times to make darts.
Design the dress: Show your child how to snip the yarn, string and other items with the scissors and stick it on the paper. Depending on the strength of your contact paper, you may be able to remove the decorations and repeat with the same dress a few times.

Yesterday, in order to photograph them for their Etsy debut, I played dress up for a while with this 1940s set of sister and brother paper dolls. Aren't they super cute? I love Sis's pigtails and her brother's cowlick. And their vintage clothes are fabulous, with paper attire for every occasion.
Susan, I've always loved paper dolls. I had tons of sets when I was a kid, but lost them in a flood. We used to make out own-draw and cut the doll and use magazine pages cut up for the patterns on the clothes. We would spend hours playing with them. Your set is amazing!
Susan I have two sets of vintage paper dolls and I love them. I have them framed hanging in my sewing room. We use to make our paper dolls from the old Sears catalog, we cut the person out and then pasted with flour paste (that would be plain flour and water)cardboard (Kellogg's Corn Flake box)on the back of the people so they would stand up. Then we would cut the clothes to fit them.I love your paper dolls and the outfit I like the best is the overall boy and the little red dress with the bonnet for the girl. So darn cute!!!
The Paper Doll Dress Up Cricut Cartridge brings you the grown up version of playing with paper dolls. You get to choose the colors, patterns, and sizes of all of the clothing. You can even add details like bows, pearl buttons, or stitching using a black pen.
Clearly, I love all things fairy tale related and that includes a love of princess fantasy gowns. It has been a long time since I did an over the top princess dress for the Poppet series. Every child paper doll paper needs an over the top princess dress.
This snow princess paper doll dress was inspired by 18th century Rococo designs, specifically polonaise dresses. These gowns were known for their draped and swagged over skirts. I have always loved the style. Meanwhile, this Poppet gown has some practical short boots for tromping through the snow and long sleeves to keep her warm.
Georgie was commissioned by the lovely people at Cico Books, to produce this fun Paper Dolly Dress Up Book. Not only is it fun creating your very own fashion parade with the lavish collection of outfits and accessories. You can see how clothes have changed over time, from the fashions of Ancient Egypt and Rome to the flamboyant finery of Elizabethan dress to the more recent fashions of the sixties, seventies and eighties.
Dover Publications published a set of Sesame Street paper doll books from 2009 to 2011. Two of the books are reprints of Western Publishing books -- Paper Doll Players (1976) and Seasons Paper Dolls (1984).

In design space click images and type in doll, scroll through until you find a doll you like. The doll I have chosen is part of a full set you just have to hunt to find them all. However there are lots of alternatives, and boy sets too.
Ensure your printer is compatible for print and cut. I use the HP ENVY 5020 Multifunctional Printer which is an inexpensive printer but has worked with print and cut vinyl, stickers and magnetic paper.
